A campaign of revenge on the high seas

QUEEN— of —STORMS

This is not a campaign about saving the world or chasing lofty goals. It's about what you lost — and making those responsible pay through their broken teeth.

The Pitch

Eight Lords Want Her Back. Let Them Want.

You took something from the Eight Pirate Lords of the Black Arms Armada — the Queen of Storms herself, the pride of their fleet, an arcane frigate that bends the weather to her captain's spite. You sailed her out of their own harbor with her decks still smoking, and you have not stopped running since.

Eight lords want her back. Let them want.

You have a fast ship, a motley crew of tragic heroes, and a list of names. You're going to work your way down that list if it kills you — and it very well might.

But here is the thing the powerful never understand about people with nothing left to lose: you don't need to win. You're not trying to win. You're trying to live long enough to get back the one missing piece of yourself they tore out, and to make absolutely, gut-certain sure that when this is over, they lose.

They'll chase you wherever you go. Good.
It means you always know where to find them.

0:00 / 0:00
Verse I Black sails eclipse the dawn
We pay the iron price
Truth snaps like bone
Under every crushing wave
Verse II Our Queen cuts through the rage
No quarter for foes
Defeated in her wake
By our steel resolve
Pre-Chorus Hoist the sails up high
Hear the mast bell sing
Cannons kiss the dark
As the thunder begins to ring
Chorus Queen of Storms, Queen of Storms
Sail us through the black
Queen of Storms, Queen of Storms
Never turning back
Crown of thorns, heart of flame
100 voices in refrain
Queen of Storms, Queen of Storms
Carry us back home
Verse III We beggars and the ghosts
Are the ones needed most
We keep the flame alive
Tiny spark deep inside
Verse IV Let kings and gods conspire
We'll meet them all with fire
We ride the rising tide
With vengeance on our side
Bridge In the maelstrom's eye
The heroes must awake
To see all our villains
Drowned by tidal waves
The Call STRIKE! Let the waters rise
STRIKE! No fear in our eyes
STRIKE! We hear the ocean's roar
STRIKE! We want for nothing more
Final Refrain Queen of Storms, Queen of Storms
Carry us back home…

The Ship & Her Crew

The Queen of Storms — a black arcane frigate with a dragon figurehead, storm-grey sails, and lantern-lit sterncastle, cutting through fog and rain
The Queen of Storms, running dark through the fog. Eight fleets behind her. A list of names ahead.

The Queen of Storms

An arcane frigate, the pride of the Black Arms fleet — a ship that bends the weather to her captain's spite. A snarling dragon rides her prow, dragon maws line her gunwales, and her storm-grey sails look cut from the thunderheads she commands. Stolen out of the Armada's own harbor with her decks still smoking. Fast enough to stay ahead of eight fleets. So far.

She is more than a getaway. The Queen is a character in her own right — the crew's home and base of operations, and a vessel full of locked mysteries. Her secrets don't open to keys or crowbars: they open to puzzles, solved one by one, each answer revealing a little more of what she really is.

Shahrazad — The Nation of the Nine Winds

A pirate-run island nation. Think Singapore and Tortuga rolled into one — and named for the storyteller who survived a tyrant by pure wit.

A crescent archipelago of volcanic peaks astride the richest monsoon crossing in the world. The Shahrazadi say their nation has no walls because the wind is the wall — no invader has ever timed the crossing better than the people born reading it. Every hull under the wind shares her anchorage: galleons, dhows, junks, feluccas, and ships in no registry anywhere. Every wave of arrivals added a district, a cuisine, a dialect, and a shrine — the capital hears nine languages before breakfast and prays in more.

That capital is Port Tenebris, the Dark Harbor — a port terraced up the inside of a drowned caldera, so that arriving at night feels like sailing into a bowl of lanterns hung in the void. The name is a relic of the old empire's slave port, kept deliberately: in Shahrazad they do not erase dark chapters, they retell them with a better ending. The discipline of the world's greatest trading port fused with the appetite of its wildest pirate haven: pirates queue politely at the Harbormaster's window, cutlasses peace-bonded, to pay moorage fees calculated to the copper — on plunder no one will ever ask the origin of. The ledgers are immaculate; the manifests are fiction; both are sacred. One law is enforced without mercy — the harbor peace. Every ship strikes her colors at the harbor mouth. Inside the caldera there are no fleets, no lords, no vendettas. Only guests.

The nation was founded three generations ago by galley slaves of every nation under the wind, chained at the same benches, who broke those chains mid-crossing and built a home instead of sailing back to any of theirs. It is ruled by the Shahrazad — an unbroken line of female pirate rulers, each of whom gives up her own name to take the mantle. The mantle passes not by blood but by telling: claimants tell the city a tale, night after night, and the one whose story holds the city's ear holds its helm. She rules by diplomacy first — the settled dispute, the traded favor, the tale that lets both sides keep their pride — and reaches for force only when the words are truly spent; when she does, it is brief, precise, and never needs repeating. The Divan of Captains is her genuine counsel, and she listens — then speaks the final word. The Black Arms have assassinated Shahrazad twice in living memory. Both times she was alive again within a season. You cannot kill a woman who is also a story.

The Ninth Shahrazad — these things are true about her

  • Holds a private debt from each of the Eight Pirate Lords — and has never once called them in
  • Has never told the same lie twice
  • Knows every ship that has ever anchored in Port Tenebris, and what it was really carrying

For the crew, Shahrazad is the one anchorage where the Queen of Storms can drop anchor without eight fleets following her in — and a floor where they may sip coffee three tables from a Pirate Lord who cannot legally touch them until they clear the reef.

For the Table

Writers' Room: Tone Pillars

Revenge, Not Rescue

Nobody here is saving the world. Every arc bends toward what was lost and who will pay for it.

Being Hunted Is the Plan

The chase is not a problem to solve — it's the engine. If they're chasing you, you always know where to find them.

Nothing Left to Lose

The crew's power isn't strength — it's that the powerful cannot threaten people who have already lost everything.

You Don't Need to Win

Victory isn't the win condition. Making gut-certain sure that they lose — that's the win condition.

Open Briefs

What the world needs next — claim one and make it yours.

The World Map

The setting deserves a great map — the kind writers pin over their desks. Coastlines worth fighting over, sea lanes worth raiding, and room for everything still to come. This is the spine the rest of the world hangs on.

Open brief — cartographer wanted

A Pirate-Run Island Nation

Claimed and founded: Shahrazad now anchors The World section above. The brief's flavor guidance stands for everything built on her shores — Sinbad and kindred fiction first, with the whole world's sails in her harbor.

Brief filled — expansion welcome
LIVING DOCUMENT — this pitch grows as the captain's notes come in. Sections marked "notes incoming" are holds for material on the way: the Eight Lords, the crew, the map, and everything in between.
